Hey I just read my brothers message here! I come from a family of 10 boys one girl, aged 21-41. We're all bald now well, except my sister! Perhaps we'll shave her head one day too! We all used to sit around the table at home and say hah Dad you old baldie! He just used to look at us wisely and slowly say you'll all be the same one day! Of course we didn't believe him. Now we do and who cares! We're all bald as badgers! Take care out there. Love Mick

Finally decided to do the "clean shaven" look...though it took weeks of pondering. Im age 35 and since I was in mid 20's I noticed the ol' hairline was receding in front as well as in back. I was told by older, wispy haired workers that I had the "Blonde hair syndrome"..and hey!!..I would be like them in few years...(the combed over, horse-shoe look). Everyones favorite comment seemed to be "hey..you know your going bald?"....(hmmm...Really??..I didnt notice) When I was 26 I met my wife to be. Her sister asked her "are you sure you wanna marry a guy thats going bald?" (what a great sister-in law) When I got into my 30's I started donning the ol' ball cap routine...I used to hate to wear ball caps...and then found myself depending on them!!..Hell, I had a whole collection. I would never leave home w/out one. In past year...the hairline was getting really thin up front..I was actually hating to look in the mirror...plus I hated hiding under the ol' baseball caps and depending on them EVERY FREAKING SINGLE DAY..... But I need a shove in the right direction. A guy at work had a clean shaven head...and must sensed what I was going thru..and recommended to "be FREE..and be proud to be bald"...then I went to a Metal concert by one of my favorite singers when I was a teen..and their was Rob Halford (formerly of Judas Priest)...Bald and Proud..screaming his ass off with his shaven head. Then, I came upon this site...read these stories and felt I really "found a home"...I went downstairs..oiled up the ol clippers and "went at it" like I was in basic training again. I loved it!!..Next day at work...I had 3 women rub my head..no joke!!...and one girl "asked me ,please..could I rub it again"...I totally flipped out and turned red..hahaha... My wife digs it..I dig it..and thats what counts..(oh, and the girls at work dig it too)..I NOW look years younger. Take my advice guys...shear it off...you will be released and have a new confidence in life. Bald and Proud.

Smoking and hairloss? Read on...

Great site! Let me start with the basics...I'm now 33 years old and started losing my hair in high school. I can't remember exactly when, but I think it was the beginning of high school. Now at age 33 I have that Bruce Willis hairline. It's not totally gone, but I do have a very noticeable receeding hairline. I keep it clipped very short and I think it looks decent.

Here's my question: I recently read that smoking contributes to hairloss. I'm wondering if this is true. I'm a smoker, have been since I was 15, and my brother has never smoked. While my brother also has a receeding hairline it's not as severe as mine, and he's two years older than I am. I look at my father, who is also a smoker, and what his hair has done over the years. My father isn't totally bald, yet has a severe receeding hairline. I'm left wondering that if I weren't a smoker would I have more hair? I'm comfortable being a man with a receeding hairline and I'm also comfortable being a smoker. Does anyone have any input to this theory/study that links smoking to hair loss? If you have any thoughts on this please email me.

Thanks, Tim

This is Thursday, January 18 and I happened to come across your site. I have worn a hairpiece for almost 16 years and hated every stare, every "is he or isnt he?" (wearing a rug). I got up from my desk one hour ago....went to the bathroom and SHAVED MY HEAD! My rug is now in the trash and I dont think I look too bad. Thanks guys. I'll look forward to revisiting your site now that I am liberated.

I am always reading that many, suggest & use the Mach 3 razor/blades for head shaving. Also, one comment is, that the Mach 3, is easier to clean (the shaved hair stubbles & shave gel, creams, etc.) I find that Shick's TracerFX razor/blades to be excellent for head shaving. The "bendable" double blade is a very innovative design, and seems to use more of the blades edge because it slighty conforms (bends) to the curvature of head. Also, the TracerFX blade head is small & thin and you can more easily access and shave that hard to get spot, behind the top ear lobe/fold. Some shaving gels or creams have a tendency to clog up the blades (others are more soluble in water). Also, head shaving involves more skin surface area (compared to face) and blades will clog up faster with the hair stubbles. Just vigorously shaking the blade/razor in the sink full of water, does not seem to completely cleanout between clogged blades, and rapidly tapping the razor handle against sink edge may cause the blade head to fly off handle. So, this is what I do: I get one of those empty spray/pump bottles (32 ounce size) and just fill with water and set spray nozzle to a "hard stream" (not mist). While I shave and when blade gets clogged, I hold spray nozzle about 1/8" from blade and shoot some hard water streams between blades, then I shake blade head in water and continue shaving. If your razor/blade (any brand) tends to clog fast, this may work for you and improve the results of your head shave. During your shave, you have got to clean those blades frequently!

I think this is great. Bald is not an illness. It is a good start to change the perception of beauty. It is more important to take care of your body (belly) than your hair but that's my opinion. I may not have hair but i don't have a "molson tumor". I wish long life to BALDRUS.

Hey Guys, think about it for a minute! Say if only 5% of the women out there truly have a weakness for totally bald men, what does that mean? Well, if you're in a nightclub or other social situation where there are 100 women present that means at least 5 of them will be zeroing in on "you"! How many other bald dudes are you going to see there at the same time? The world truly is our "oyster" and the mathematical possibilities are positively staggering!

No not bald yet....I became 33 in July and even though I was concerned that I was loosing my hair from my late teens...I ignored the issue...gradually haircutters were taking note....Some thinning started to gradually appear at the age of 30 on my crown...again I ignored it....…using the Norwood scale you may consider me a 3…..Since I do have thick hair when my hair is moderately long rather than short thinning isn’t as noticeable….. then I started losing hair in the front and sides….I started panicking and went to three dermatologists the first one prescribed vitamins…..then I started reading about Rogain and said this is it…I went to a second dermatologist who not only prescribed Rogain but Finesteride…I saved my hair I thought…..well I stopped using them for several reasons…..In the case of Finesteride after 5 days of using this stuff…I felt pain in my right testicle and I was shedding…..In the case of rogain I believe it started working for me but a lifetime use and no side effects (really???)….even my second dermatologist was for rogain but against finesteride….everybody says rogain has no side-effect…yet there is no guarantee that this topical solution cannot enter your bloodstream….Moreover, you really have to limit activity that makes you sweat….so I stopped it…I am still losing hair and it is becoming more and more noticeable…..I am really hesitant to cut my hair cause more scalp may show…I would prefer shaving but everybody I spoke to thought it was a bad idea…I hate looking in the mirror so often…..This should not control my life but it does….My girlfriend, well she things I am stressing myself for nothing…..and eventhough she prefers hair she would not mind being bald…..I am grateful that past thirty we still have hair I am unhappy that I will lose it before 40….I do not mind bald but I hate the change and the way people sometimes look at you…I guess I am asking for some comforting words….

thanks

I figured if they're proudly showing it off, so should I! I also decided I should let my hair grow while I still have some. I've actually had a lot of compliments on my new hair style. I think it looks very «à la mode» to have really short hair and a receding hair line!

I'm 24, and after having an accelerated trend of hair loss on the back, I decided to shave in April of this year (2000). Ever since doing this, I feel much better about myself, and I even went through an experience that has left me with a better life. I was working for a company that had a very "old school" management team, and I was flat out told after about 4 months that I either grow my hair back, or leave. Well, the upside is that I was in a dead-end job, and I used this, and my Bachelor's degree, as a reason to get the heck out. I felt very discriminated against, and my friends all feel that I should take them to court, but I just look at it as an escape route. Since then, I have landed a job here in Ohio that is 10x better, with a lot of promise for the future. I'm too much of a person to let someone tell me what I should look like. And, the irony of the whole thing is that one of the jokers who demanded change was a man who is bald on the crown, but obviously not very comfortable with himself, or his appearance.

BEst website I have encountered!! I have been bald or going bald since I was 25. It is a heriditary thing on my Father's side of the family. I have never tried to hide it or cover it up. From a female perspective my current girlfriend says I am sexy w/o hair and former wife and other girlfriends have repeated the same. When my brothers and uncles get together it's like an advertisement for the Hair club for men!! LOL I think it's a cosmetic coverup to compnesate for a sagging Ego when men spend all this money for plugs, wigs and the like. I mean why not just be anaturale andlive life. If I have to have hair to compete in this world then there is something bad wrong with my self esteem and image. Life is too short to worry about lack of hair. I say SLICK IS THE TRICK! Dear Sirs; Anything that deals with the attitudes of men toward themseves is a great achievement. Many times Iv'e walked the isles of bookstores only to find a five mile section on womens issues(slight exageration),but the mens section would be missed if you blinked. We should take care of our selves but anyone who thinks he is less of a man because his hair went to heaven before he did need not fret. The greatest men in the world and I might add the most attractive to women are those who make something of themseves. The supermodel types are to stuckup in most instances to realize the five seconds of sex and oooh baby your so lucky doesn't ignite a womans passion. Ihave also found that people that made fun of me when I started loosing my hair were infact jealous because it didn't devistate me. I also continued to get just as many looks from women as ever. If you feel uot in the cold remember don't hide it that only draws attention to the fact that your uncomfortable with your apperance. That in it'self willturn off more women than anything.Read, learn, and grow emotionally and you will always be better for it. A possitive self image will attract more women money and opportunities to you than you can shake a stick at.

men who are completely bald around the crown area are definately the sexiest. the hair at the sides and back must remain and must be kept short.when i see a balding man i think of him as being very masculine and definately more sexy than those with hair.trying to conceal baldness if you are a man is not very masculine at all.

The site is fun, informative and entertaining. I am bald and shave my head every couple of weeks or so. A wise man once said to me (also bald) when you first go bald you look older than your hairy peers, but then you stay that way while your hairy colleagues continue to look older and older and as they age. Keep up the good work.

P.S. An earring is a cool accessory for us bald men

It continues to surprise me that bald men do not understand how many women are turned on by their bald heads. A man who accepts and embraces his baldness is a picture of self-confidence. There is nothing sexier than that. I think the media's representation of the perfect, hair-headed man, has done the same thing for men that the perfect, twiggy-thin female has done for women. It creates a false picture of what most women think and are attracted to. As I look back over my dating history, I discover that I have always been attracted to and dated bald or balding men. I love bald men!

Bald men don't have head lice or dandruff and can save money on hair cuts. The only down side is you have to wear a hat sometimes to keep from burning your melon ! God only made a few perfect heads and He put hair on the rest of them. Women who don't like bald heads have never slowly rubbed one ! Web site is nice!

Historically bald has always signified the man who dared to be different. Who dared to be bold and confident. As a matter of fact he terrified those with hair. Bald also signified danger and mystery. After years of thinking about it I finally shaved my head today. I told the barber I'd make it easy for him, just take it all off! I figured I was losing so much hair I might as well go all the way. I already like it. As a goof I put 'bald' in a search engine. After sorting through what must have been hundreds of listings for 'cures' I found this one. This is a cool site for 'prefect heads'. I also am pleased to see the Bible verses. I almost forgot about the story of Elisha. Thanks for reminding me. I am sure I'll get some comments in church tommorow as I am a deacon and due to usher tommorow. Now I have something to say back. Keep up the great work!

Hi, like the others, I happened on your web site by happy chance. Small quiz: Who amongst us would not agree that Billy Zane was far and away much more handsome and devilishly attractive in Tales from the Crypt, Knight Rider than he was in the unlikeable role as the boyfriend in Titanic? Goes to show you, some men just look better without the hair. Hairlessness is not for everyone, but for many that do brave it out, the results are spectacular.

I am writing to post my experience with this company KEVIS..a company who claims to have the solution to baldness..they clain their product grows hair better than anything on the market, yet it isnt a drug, they claim that if they had to have the FDA review its potion, it would take 10 years before they could put it on the market..so they market it as a cosmetic product. I implore you DO NOT give 1¢ to this company. The biggest rip off ever. They claim a money back gaurentee, but void it after you get the product. If there is anyone out there considering using this proct, plese do not waste your time and $, by the way the stuff goes for $600 a pop, they got me, and its the last product I tried. I only thank them now for my bald head, which my wife loves. thank you for reading this

Hey fellow slicksters! Just a note...i am 34, i have hair growing out of my head but i simply decided about 6 years ago that i dont want it there. i shave down bald by choice and i am very proud of it! Lets face it...it just looks better. I have also noticed something else, i never look at a man with a receding hairline or extensive balding any differently, i just dont notice it...but i will tell you this, some of the most 'manly' men ive seen out there, guys i truly admire, are men like Story Musgrave, Yul Brenner, Patrick Stewart, Mark Messier...those guys are MEN!! and bald as anything! If someone is focusing on my bald head with even so much as a hint of a smirk, i can find something on them that is worth pointing out...and chances are good that if someone is going to look at your baldness with disdain, they have issues and things they are trying to divert YOUR attention from. I simply win them over other ways...i never focus on my lack of hair, so nobody else should either! Stand proud brothers (and even a few sisters..coughcoughSinead o connor cough), hair isnt NEARLY as important as it once seemed it was.......ooooh, i almost for got to mention Robert Duvall!!!......sorry, got off course there. Just be cool and by all means be yourself...the critics can go mousse or something! :-)

I started losing my hair in High School whan I was fourteen (37 years ago)and at that time I said when it's mostly gone it's all gone. Well at 40 it was mostly gone and so today, as since that day, it goes down the drain each day. And since that day I have had more attention from woman then I ever had with hair. My wife (who I took to the prom in high school) starts asking when I don't shave for a day or two, so when you getting rid of the fuzz, you know I think your bald head is so sexy.

Great Website,

It is commendable what you are trying to do here. The hair regrowth has and continues to be one of the biggest shams in history. Now that the corrupt pharmeucetical industry is involved lending their pseudo-science to this problem it is acceptable in the minds of the FDA, but still no more ethical or successful. Hopefully through your work, many men will be able to regain their confidence and avoid some of the pitfalls out their when it comes to hair (un)restoration

One of the reasons men go bald is due to a higher amount of testosterone in their systems. If you have the nerve to check, look at a bald man’s chest. More often than not they are very hairy. Apparently the testosterone that causes body hair to grow, also causes baldness…so I have been told!

I saw your promo site on AOL and had to check it out. I am almost 35 year old male and have been losing my hair since I was about 15. I am balding and have known it was happening for all years since it began. My Dad does the comb over thing I swore I would never do that and haven't nor will I. I get my hair cut relatively short and tell the barber I know I am going bald and I don't want to try to hide that but nor do i want to advertise it so just cut my hair.

I have considered just shaving the rest of my hair off and even bought clippers just for this reason. But, I have not shaved off my hair yet. i don't think my wife would like it at all.

Very interesting site and I have put it on my list of favorites. I really enjoyed the Biblical references and have threatened a couple youth with the curse of the bears that Elisha brought down on people who made fun of him.

Spent my first week shaved after many years of hiding my baldness with hair from everywhere except my armpits ! It is a relief to be done with that nonsense and the terrible hair spray to keep everything just so. I am fully waterproof and aerodynamic (a great line from another member) and ready to face the world and plunge in again ...headfirst ! I am 58 years old and realize now that it is the person underneath the hair that constitutes the really important part of a man.

Really feels good....and honest.

hey, great site. it's good to see so many skullies sticking together. but i have a suggestion for anyone bummed out by the price of mach 3 blades. go to your local flea market. i don't know how the people selling things there get a hold of them. but on average you can pay $1.65 a head retail, if you get the 12 pack. but just the other day, i purchased 32 blades at the flea market for $20! that's about 62 cents each. just make sure that the package is still sealed.

Just found this site today on the AOL logon pop-up. Great site! I'm at the cusp of 40 and I've been bald my entire adult life, with hair loss starting my senior year in HS. Fortunately, I've never given it a second thought, being secure in who I am - not what I look like. Unfortunately a lot of my friends who later lost their hair (and are just now beginning to) are fixated with rugs, plugs and creams, etc. How sad! I will definitely forward this site on to them to help improve their self-esteem. Nice to see the comments from the ladies - I always knew they were there. In fact, I married one of 'em. Thanks!

I have waited for a web site such as this. I believe I fell in love with my husband because he WAS bald. He was absolutely handsome. Bald men to me appear less vain and more intelligent, and yes, SEXY (and probably are). I hate to see men in public life with their obvious hair pieces or hair styles that obviously try to cover bald spots. Come on fellas, save money and place your anxieties elsewhere. We women like you the way you are!!!

I'm 20 and I've been losing my hair since I was 16. For a few years I wasted my money on all sorts of hair-restoration crap because I thought that a full head of hair was required to be accepted in society. I later came to the conclusion, however, that if all a man has is his hair, then he doesn't have much. Most women don't care if a guy's bald, but they DO care if he's honest and passionate. Or rich. Women love rich guys, bald or not.

Baldness is not a disease and should not be treated as one. Bald or not I find good men attractive and I believe it's what's on the inside that counts. It would seem very silly to try and conceal something as natural as balding. Let me share a short story with you. My brother once shaved his mustashe first time ever. My mom thought he really looked silly and should not have shaved it all off. After about a week, we all got used to it and years later when he grew it back, we thought He looked silly.

I believe the reason Baldness does not happen over night is because God made it a gradual process so those around you can get used to the change. So my brother take it from a woman, Bald is beautiful and Bald is bold and Bald is sexy so go on and free yourself from any form of prison to impress people who really do not care because they love you for who you are.

As a gay manI have always been attracted to bald men. I find it incredibly irresistibly sexy. Both of my grandfathers were bald. My father lost his hair in his early 20's. He had 4 brothers and 3 were bald. My mother had one brother and he was bald. I am now 39, and have been sort of "waiting" for it to happen to me. But no such luck. I have a thick full head of hair, and I shave my head. I've been doing it for almost 4 years, and before that I did it sporadically whenever I got up enough nerve to do it. I love the way it looks, and I've been told by many that for me it's "the look" and its right for me. I plan to do it until I can't do it any longer. Times have changed. Years ago "Kojak" was an oddity. Now it's almost the norm. It feels good, looks good, and I don't ever worry what anyone thinks. I used to. It's all about what is right for some people. Some men clearly do not have the right shaped head to shave it and shouldn't. But wigs and toupees are just hideous. I have always been able to pick out a wig from far away and they almost NEVER look good. And what's this about spray on hair? I've never heard about that. And I hope I never actually see it. Gillette Mach 3 is the best in a hot steamy shower. Ordinary soap will do. Or just the plain hot water in the shower.

I want to thank you for putting up this great site. I am one of those people who dreaded loosing my hair to the point of combing over, using spray, even using my wife's eyelash pencil to hide my thin spots. I had had enough so about three weeks ago I told my wife that I was thinking of shaving my head. She thought I was joking or crazy. So, the first time convenient, out came the clippers. I could not be happier with my hairless look. Thanks, Dave.

Got to admit, thinning hair gets to be a real nuisance, you know, spray that little strand or two in place! Add up the cost of the hot, sweaty rugs and the expensive conditioners, "hair system service", and the hair color for when you get out of the pool all bleached out, and I could have vacationed in Cancun five or six times. Or more. Shaving your head is like the first bungee jump.... scary to think about but very satisfying and not that big of a deal once you take the leap. Shave it. You'll be ok.

thanks for your site! i'm 26 yrs. old and have been steadily losing my hair for about 4 yrs. now. i wear a hat everywhere i go, and try to avoid going places where i can't. i started losing it while i was in the army (where i was required to wear a hat all the time) do u think that has anything to do with it? i know that it is hereditary because my dad, his dad, and my mom's dad are bald but i was just wondering if wearing a hat all the time had helped in speeding up the process any. i know i just need to accept it and move on, but i just can't seem to bring myself to do it, even though i'm one of the biggest michael jordan fans in the world! (lol) it even keeps me from going to church. please put me in your prayers! thank u very much for what you're doing!

I'm 45, and have been shaving my head for about five years. Before that, starting at age 34, when I realized that the thinning that began subtly at age 31 was now rapidly progressing, I tried Minoxidil and scalp injections for about five years and spent a lot of money, without any real success. It took a while, but I finally accepted my hair loss, shaved it off, and let it go. People tell me I look better completely bald; when I look at pictures of myself with a full head of hair, I realize they are right. I'm so glad I stumbled upon this site. Thank you for being here.

Just ran into this web page, and I think this is great, I have been bald since I was in my late 30's and have been completely bald(except some fringe around the edge) since I was 50 or so. I have never tried anything to cover it up, but I did comb over a few years, but gave that up, now my wife likes to kiss my bald head. I appreciate your website, and was suprised to find that a lot of women like bald men. Hair is a lot of bother, and I am thankful I am now bald.

I have been shaving my head since 1984. I cannot picture myself with hair again nor would I want to have hair (except for my goatee). Hair requires too much care. All I need to do is shave, and wash my head with a bar of soap. I'm done. No combing or styling needed.

This is a great site! I was one of those guys caught in-between---MPB , but afraid to "clean up my act." Well, in January I went to the barber, had her clipper-shave me, went home and finished it off with the Mach III. I am so glad I did! I'm single, in my forties, and have always been shy around the ladies, but I have to tell you, when you shave your head you are making a statement to the world that it's what makes you feel good about your appearance that matters. Funny, I make a lot more eye contact with pretty women than I used to--- and they invariably smile back! My confidence is better than ever! I'll never grow hair again--- I know there's a lady out there that is looking for this clean-headed man. LOL! Thanks again for the site--- makes me proud!

PS- The "singles connection" idea is a great one!

Nice to find a website dedicated to being bald instead of trying not to be bald. I would like to see you open a forum on your site.

I'm not actually bald. I had my hair buzzed today - 1/8" on top and sides/back shaved as close as the barber could cut. Am thinking of shaving comletely, but am worried about being confused with skinheads. Wonder what the experience of others has been. Just the kind of question for a baldrus forum.

Your web site has helped me a lot. I struggled for years with my hair loss and would not go out in public for many years. I tried a rug and stopped wearing it because I worried if people could tell. I finally got tired of what little was left on top and trying to put every hair in place and shaved off what little was left on top. I went to a Promise Keepers event where thousands of men attended and God spoke to me and told me to look around. I could see that there were many men with the same hair style that I had and I knew that God was telling me then that it was O.K. and that He loved me just the way I am. I still struggle a little but it is getting better and I am excepting it more and more each day. Thanks

Think this site, these guestbook entrees included, is very helpful. I am starting to thin out at 20 and although the few people that I have confided in (none of my friends yet) seem to think I don't have to worry yet I can't help but worry. I think my main problem is that I am comparing myself to me with hair and failing to look at the bigger picture which I always feel is most important. I am contemplating using Rogaine but thinking that it may not be worth it. If I can find the confidence I could save a fortune and just shave my head.

My husband is 26 and bald ... BY CHOICE! I wouldn't have it any other way, even on our wedding day it was fabulous - that beautiful, shining head of his went perfect with his tux and with me. He was in the Marine Corps and was used to short hair, and one day when I was triming it (3 years ago)... OOPS! ... I made a big boo-boo, so we shaved the entire thing and he's been bald and beautiful ever since. Thank God for men without hair!

Please keep this up! BaldRUs is something that's truly necessary. Men really need to know that it isn't hair that makes them sexy to us. Sexy has nothing to do with hair color or hair, eye color or skin color. It is something that we see in men's eyes and it isn't there unless they have confidence. Are only blue-eyed men sexy? If your answer to that is 'NO', then why do you think only men with hair are sexy? Show us your style, not your hairstyle.

Bald? Big deal. It's like anything characteristic of appearance. If you make it a negative, people will see it as a negative and your confidence will be damaged. Losing my hair did bother me at first. And negative comments from people who have far more flaws in appearance pushed me to the point where I felt, who are they to judge me or my appearance. I buzzed my head and immediately felt a weight off my shoulders (no pun intended). Women, in general like it, I think because it shows that I am proud of the way I look, not to mention I didn't have to carry that ugly black plastic comb. I like convertables again. I save money from buzzing my own hair. The reasons are endless. To prove my point, look at this awesome web site. ACCENTUATE YOUR FACE, SHAVE YOUR HEAD!!!

Well, its about time! I just stumbled across this great website, and I couldn't be more proud! Far too many insecure balding brothers out there! Hell, I've been shaving my head for 18 years now! I started going bald at age 19 and at first I felt like the world was ending for me. Then I was standing behind a man at the grocery store who had one of THE worse comb-overs I had ever seen! We have all seen the several forms of bad comb-overs. The cinnamon roll swirl, the foot-long wave, and the old hair spray God awful mess. This guy had all three! I decided right then and there that I would rather shave then humiliate myself. There is absolutely nothing wrong with being bald brothers! My wife and kids love my bald look, and I have grown to love it as well. So thank you for a great website bald guy, and I will look forward to coming back soon!

So here I am, going a little thin on top at 32, never in a million years thought I would start to lose my hair, My father has bush up there and at 60 hasn't lost a single hair. I've ALWAYS gotten compliments on my hair. Girls seemed to comment on it often. So what do I do about it? After going ape for about a week or so I excepted it and haven't even thought about more then a couple or so times. I know I'm lucky because my wife {then girlfriend} told me years ago {way before I showed any signs of losing my hair} that she thought bald men were sexy and that she had dated one for a long time...I'm in no way bald, just thinning at this point but my advice is to just live with it and welcome it and don't be so shallow as to think people are going to judge you by the amount of hair on your head. As a whole I truly believe that most people wouldn't and don't give a crap about your hair...here's a secret...nice people like nice people!

I started going bald gradually in my mid to late 20's. I am now 44 and am bald, except for "peach fuzz" on top. I have been buzzing my scalp with a razor once a week for the last 4 years. If I had been given a choice before I started going bald, I would certainly have opted to keep my hair. However, given that same choice now, I would most likely decide to stay the way I am, since I am very comfortable this way. I actually spend a lot more time concentrating on my physical conditioning, since that is something I have control over. I am far from looking like Schwartzenegger but think I am doing O.K. for my age.

P.S. I have no qualms about looking my age.

I am comfortable with my Friar Tuck balding pattern, for the most part. The hair up front is hanging in there but it is slowly thinning. I will admit that I think "yikes" when I wake up to matted down hair with a lot of skin showing between the flattened, thinning hair. I get fluffed up fast. Transitional stages can be awkward. Life will be simpler after it is gone!

My husband usually wore his hair buzzed, and every time I shaved It for him He wanted it shorter, Well the last time he wanted it bald, scared to do it I did, He looks GREAT... I loved it when he shinned it all up, WOW... Now the problem is I want him to keep it bald, Which I am sure he will, Except He has to shave it every morning. Is there any tricks to keeping the hair gone longer??? Just wondering, I am just afaird that the shaving will get old, then no more bald head to rub. email with suggestins thanks

Just found this website. Started thinning at 18 years old. Had full beard and that same hair, you know the one that runs from ear to ear, nothing on top. Turned 39 and have had the "stone cold" look ever since. My wife and I rides motorcycles w/ a club, and when everyone stops and takes their helmets off, who's not looking for the comb/brushes? The only negative: Texas sun and heat!!

I am nearing my 65th birthday and have been bald since I was 20. I cannot remember having hair as an adult. Since 1956, I have had it cut as close as possible without shaving. I have never considered baldness to be a problem.

In my younger years it never interfered with me dating attractive women and my wife of nearly 38 years is still a very beautiful woman and in all our years together, wherever we go, she is the most attractive woman of her age. Once, a new friend asked her what she thought when I started to lose my hair. My wife replied I did not know him at that time.

I have been successful in business and have never felt that being bald was in any way a hindrance. Men who worry about baldness or try drugs or wear rugs need a real problem about which to worry. If there was a drug that was guaranteed to grow hair and it was free, I would not bother to try it.

I've shaved my head since I was 24 - 52 now. I was in college, and I was losing my hair since I was 16. I figured by shaving, I would strengthen my hair, as facial hair. Wrong! Anyway, after the first few months of having a shaved head, I became adjusted to the stares. It was difficult at first (maybe paranoia), but at that time, a shaved head was a novelty. Especially for a caucasian, which I am. But I'll tell you, I'm so glad I did it instead of the rugs, combovers, etc. I'll have a dome until I'm planted.

I have typical male pattern baldness, and find it to be no big deal. I keep what's left of my hair short, and find that grooming now takes less time. Also, now I don't look like Kramer (from "Seinfeld") after a day on the Harley. And haircuts are less frequent and less costly. The only downside I've noticed is the tendency to sunburn my scalp. I've considered shaving my head, but just don't want to have to deal with that process week in and week out.

Your web site is entertaining, but to my way of thinking, baldness is not a problem!

If she is content and happy with my head the way it is, then why should I worry what other people think? Or, maybe I should say if I am content and happy with her....because most of us worry more about what the opposite sex thinks of our baldness...few of us care what the guys at the gym think! So if I'm secure in my marriage relationship, what is the worry? Just one happily married mans thoughts :-)

I started losing my hair at about 17-18 so it never really bothered me much. Ive always worn my hair short, very short actually. One day while giving myself a trim I made a mistake, and decided what the hell and shaved my head.Well the reaction from women was unbelivably! For the first time in my life women, strange women, would cross a room to touch my head. Some girls I knew started calling me "sexy bald man".Honestly, if Id have known this would happen Id have done this while I was a teenager. Its one of the best "mistakes" Ive ever made.In my opinion Id suggest it to any man whose feeling a little insecure about his thinning or already thinned hair. If I wasn't bald I would be betraying an family tradition. Since I finally accepted my heredity, and now cut my own hair (only on the sides and the thin on top of course)with my own electric hair razor, it has been the best thing I have done. I received a lot of complements, the occasional bald spot rubbing by good looking outgoing women and my head is no hassle. No hair, no brush, no spray. However the surveys show that we are discriminated against. There should be a new movement for employment preference to prevent descrimination. No different than race, religion or sex. We should have preference on government contracts and jobs. Maybe even our own parking spaces.

Good website. Many men let baldness control them.20 yrs ago I had a big 'fro' and now i'm shaved and proud of it . Very low maintenance.I tried to trim my own hair while I was on military leave but as you can imagine I messed it up and shaved it off to correct the problem and have never grown it back. Life is too short to worry about a little hair. There are many other things to be concerned about.

I started wearing hats to hide it.that was 11 years ago.i have accepted it now and keep my head completely shaved. I don't think I would want it any other way now!!!! Women think it is sexy and the other benefit of it is not having to worry about going to a hair salon to get a hair cut.

Great site. In my experience, the worst thing about losing hair is that somebody makes a wisecrack or insensitive comment nearly every day. I didn't care, but the jokes began to "wear thin" over time. At 26 I shaved my head, and in the past 4 years I have heard nearly all positive comments since. Shortly after shaving my head, I actually overheard a girl telling another about the X-Rated "benefits" of "experiencing" men with shaved heads!

I am grateful, actually, to be bald. It is very easy to live this way, and I accepted that my hair was going pretty quickly when I began to lose it. Since then, I have people say, "I can't imagine you with hair." It's the way it is. I am bald, comfortable with it, and glad. I feel sorry for guys who worry about their hair (those with full hair and those losing it) more than women do. It's silly. Any way, I consider myself fortunate.

I have worn a hair piece since 1963 but I still enjoy the "freeness" of not wearing it. As a result I wear it now as I would a suit...to "dress-up". I do feel more dressed -up when I have it on; so I suppose that is hypocritical but I don't have the best shaped head in the world. I have been bald since I was in the Navy in 1945 and have had compliments and funny looks as well.

Good idea. Be yourself, not what others want you to be. Treat others with sincere appreciation of who they are. Ignore (& forgive) the jerks to whom having hair is a big deal. Q? What do you see in the dark?

Trust me guys being bald isn't the end of the world. Although I'm not saying its all good either. I first noticed hair loss when I was only a freshman in High school. Although very minor it was slightly noticeable. So I started shaving my hair short ever since. I have found that the best thing to do if you want to shave it bald and your a white guys is tan. That's what I do. Ever notice how well a darker skinned or even African American man looks? They look good at almost any age with there head shaved. So try it out it really helped me, I just went in a bed that has a facial tanner. I mean tans look good anyway but they really help out us balding guys!! Also workout!! I lift weights three times a week it will boost your self esteem. Something is working I currently have a hot blond girlfriend!! She works at hooters and has an amazing body!!

The way I see this, is...My father is bald, and he happens to be the person that I admire the most in this world. The fact that I am bald, just like my dad, is not only a privilege, it is a Blessing. Women! No problem, they love my head! I was blessed also with a pretty decent shaped head, so I shave it completely just like Bald Head Hall of Famers, Jesse Ventura, Michael Jordan, Steve Austin etc. Great site, I loved it. Thanks you guys for putting on the Web, was has been known for years...Bald Men Rule!!!!

This web site is too funny. Congratulations on a fresh idea and an entertaining collection of material. I will be recommending this site to my friends and will be checking in periodically. As my own hair continues to fall out I will no doubt be back seeking the support I need. For a former card-carrying member of the Elvis Fan Club, who swore by Brylcream, and whose pocket comb was more important than a wallet, losing my hair is very hard to take. Your web site helps! Thanks a lot.

I am 29 years old and have had a receding hair line since 16 years old. It was tough in high school high school and affected my self confidence. About two years ago an office mate enlightened me and said 'Worrying about being bald is superficial. There are plenty of other things to worry about such as the starving people in Africa'. I no longer care if I become bald. Life is too short to worry about it and those who judge you about being bald are being superficial.

Looks like a great site... I have applied to join and become a member. I have been bald since about June 1997 when my hair fell out due to my chemotherapy (Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia) and have been shaving it ever since. I like the fact that I do not need shampoo or conditioner, no bad hair days, and my wife (let alone other women) seem to really like it.

I just tell people that if you believe in evolution, we bald guys are just way more evolved than the rest of the guys around. Used to bother me then I married a wonderful woman who could care less about my lack of hairstyle, of course she does like the back to be a little longer. whatever makes her happy, I would just as soon shave it off, did that once and it made life sooo much easier.

I have a receding hair line and I now for the past five years have shaved my head. What little hair grows on in I keep no more than one quarter of an inch in length. I am proud to be "bald by choice". Sure, I could grow my hair out and see the funny receding pattern even more, but why? I feel cleaner, happier and handsomer with a shaved head. Besides, when others are fussing with their jell etc...I am enjoying another cup of coffee and relaxing. Bald and Bald by choice men unite against all the oppressive long haired vain individuals! Sincerely, Marc Gervais.

I only do things 100%, or I don't do them. So when I started losing my hair in my mid-twenties, I decided to go all the way and shaved it clean. My only regret is that I didn't do it earlier. Besides the low maintenance, it's awesome to get all of the attention from the ladies who want to rub your head. Thank you for coming up with an excellent site to express the bald way of life!!

I am a balding man. I just recently decided it was time to do away with the rest of it. So I made a bet on the PRO BOWL and lost (I am not into sports so I knew I would loose). I cut all my hair off and shaved the head. Now, My question is how can I keep it this way without having to shave the sides every other day.

hi this is a really good site with the right attitude. people who are bald should be proud of how they look and not let others dictate to them how they should appear. in my opinion the best looking men seem to be bald , while unfortunates like myself ,who have all our hair, have to spend time styling etc. to make ourselves look attractive and overcompensate for having rather unremarkable features. as I am only in my early 20's I am not at all bald , but I hope I will be in another few years, as I think a bald pate is very distinguished and the mark of a mature man. so all ye bald men out there, stand proud, and ignore any mockery , it is a sign of a limited mentality. take it easy

After ten years of wearing a hair piece, I finally decided no more. As of 12:01am January 1, 2000 I stopped wearing a piece. At first I was a bit nervous, however I quickly realized that people didn't really care. Most applauded me for the move.

Now I wear my hair close to the scalp. It feels great, I look great and I am so happy that I don't have to spend hours in front of the mirror messing with my hair. If anyone out there is even a little nervous about going back to bald, don't be. You will feel renewed.

I'm 45, and have been "losing the distraction" for several years now. I still have some hair, but I'm letting God and nature decide how much and where! I do keep the rest cut short. Like other bald men, I have taken a lot of good natured ribbing and I just tell them that I grew all my hair when I was young....(it used to be quite long), that my hairline is RETREATING not RESEEDING, or maybe that my scalp finally won and is taking it's place ABOVE my hair.....

I found this site when I was curious to see if there was such an organization that supported men who live the way we were made, not by an ad in some stupid magazine or some idiotic infomercial. I submitted a story a few nights ago that still gets laughs on me, but one that made me grow up a lot and understand baldness much more than I thought I would. I got to be bald for a few weeks and learned quite a bit. Humiliating at first, but educational and fun after it was over. Cool site, guys. Keep it up, and enjoy!
