How often to shave your head
|One of the questions I get frequently is how often I shave my head. The answer is it depends, but that’s not a very good answer so I’ll explain a little bit more.
I shave my head because the hair doesn’t grow evenly or in other words I would have a big U shaped bald spot if I let the sides and back grow out. Shaving it keeps my head one length and I do my best to shave it as smooth as possible.
Just like there is a 5’oclock shadow that appears on your face the same thing happens to your head. The problem with a balding head is the more it grows the worse it looks (in my opinion). My goal is to keep it short at all times which minimizes the bald effect.
I usually shave every 2 – 3 days. Any longer than that and I don’t like the look of my hair and any less than that and you can cause unnecessary irritation to your scalp by shaving. If you decide that you want to shave every day that’s fine, but just make sure you are using a good quality oil or shaving soap that will protect your skin.
Everyone has a different rate of hair growth. On average hair grows about 0.5 inches per month, but as a rule of thumb if you shave every other day it should keep your head looking good and not cause irritation to your skin.
